This week, Mission President Gimenez decided to change our P-day to Thursday for Thanksgiving. So here we are!
Actually, it wasn't much of a traditional Thanksgiving, mostly because we got quarantined! Some Elders in the district got positive testing for Corona, and Elder Hubbard, Sorensen, and myself weren't feeling too great either, especially myself. Yay! Fun times. We plan to get tested tomorrow.
Thanksgiving is a great day of the year. I enjoy it because even though there's a big emphasis on glutting ourselves, it's still a worldwide celebration of the virtue gratitude. Not many holidays can claim that same status. And yet despite this, I think that in reality, the world in general is very bad at being grateful. All people seem to care about are talking about the thousands of problems our world faces, and whose to blame. That doesn't seem very grateful. And as I was thinking about it, and why don't we hear of any truly grateful people anymore, I realized that the most grateful people are the ones who don't demand a lot from the world. They are happy living in peace and quiet. They know what really truly matters, and they know there's no need to be hostile with politics or religion or science or philosophy or you name it. Now I'm not saying they don't have an opinion; they just value simple virtues over political correctness.
Today, I want to encourage all of you to take a break from everyone's opinions; let's take some time, instead of watching YouTube or the news, and do something a little more simple and in tune with a grateful lifestyle. If you want to be grateful, just ask yourself, "how would a grateful person live?" And chances are, you'll find your answer.
Thanks! I love you all!
