Sister Goss---W65: INSTAGRAM!!! and isolation... (Nov 16, 2020)

Hello from my isolated apartment! Yes, this week I learned that PTSD is real. This week we were put back into temporary isolation because a sister in our apartment has a bad cough and, until we get her COVID test results back, we're inside. Not going to lie it was hard getting that news on Tuesday. BUT - this week has still been amazing and I am doing good! You could say I'm a "pro-isolated-missionary" so we've still gotten some things done. ;) Haha #blessingsindisguise. There are 5 MAJOR differences from this isolation verses the last quarantine: 1) this is temporary, not an indefinite amount of time (aka months), 2) we are in a 5-man, not a 2-man, 3) we have friends to teach, 4) we have connection and can actually use video call, 5) we have music we can listen to besides what's on the church website. Believe me THOSE ARE GAME CHANGERS. And yes that deserves all caps haha! ;) Hopefully we get negative results back today and we're good to go back outside next week! :)

Part of what made this week great, despite isolation, was our mission tour with Scott D. Whiting, one of the church leaders! He gave a talk in general conference in October (you can see it at ChurchofJesusChrist.org). He invited us to write a one-page essay of how the Book of Mormon has changed our life, and then invited us a few days later to rewrite it again and share a very specific example of how it's blessed our life. His insights were amazing and although he wasn't afraid to call us out, it helped us rethink the way we bear testimony and how we can make it much more relatable to the people we're teaching. :) Good stuff!!

BIG NEWS!! Our mission has gotten permission to start using Instagram for missionary purposes and President asked if our apartment would be willing to pilot it! :O WOOHOO!!! So Sister Henriod and I have Instagram on our phones now and we are creating the account the mission will use in the future. The other sisters we live with will get access to it soon and we'll be posting super frequently. Stay tuned for when the account goes live! I love being a pioneer!!! :)) SO exciting!!!

Last but not least, we had a home visit over video call with a member this week and she is hard of hearing, so she used sign language as she talked. I used sign language when I talked too and it was so much fun! :) Sign language has become such a joy and I love being able to know another language well enough to have a solid conversation haha! I can say prayers, read scriptures, and teach the first three lessons in ASL. Lets goooo!! ;)

Miss you all lots and lots! Have an amazing day and enjoy it!! I'll enjoy my last day of being 20... ;) *big yikes*

Love you all!

Sister Goss
