Hey everyone!!
How was your week? I
hope school, work, or whatever you may be doing is going well! Update me; I
miss you all! 😊
My week was pretty
normal, which means it was good! Our typical day is waking up, doing community
service (visiting retirement homes, cleaning up streets, food banks, shoe
charities, etc.), having personal and companion study, having a lesson with
someone who wants to learn more, street contacting, and trying to contact people
who expressed interest a while ago. Sometimes it feels like no one wants to
talk to us, and it can feel discouraging. However I've learned that getting
rejected is preferred to being completely ignored. It's hard when it feels like
no matter how hard you try, you're getting nowhere! The good news is that I
know we ARE making progress and lives ARE being changed. There are small
changes, but "by small and simple things are great things brought to
pass!" -1 Nephi 16:29.
We found 2 new people
this week, which is super exciting! One was a man we met while street
contacting and he was open to having a conversation about Jesus Christ. The
other was an older woman who had been contacted before and welcomed us back.
She said we have a light in our eyes that radiates Christ's love. 😊 She
is super sweet! We've also done service for Charlita and Letitia, who aren't
willing to talk about Christ yet but they're starting to open up about God as
we serve them.
We had a lesson with
Jackie this week and it went well! Jackie has wanted to get baptized for a
while but her husband isn't supportive so she, understandably, won't yet. When
she found out I was from Virginia she was super excited because her husband is
from VA and we might be able to finally connect with him! This may be one
reason I'm in the area I'm in, and I pray for God's guidance everyday so I can
know how to best bring others to Christ. ❤
I'm definitely
getting the hang of this now. It's taken longer than I anticipated, but it's
okay!! 😊 My testimony of the Book of Mormon has strengthened SO MUCH as
I read it for an hour everyday. It is truly of God! The only way to know is to
read it yourself and ask God sincerely; I promise He will tell you if it's true
or not! I love Nephi's story and admire His faith in God. He was so faithful
and obedient!
Ask me any questions
you have whenever! I love you all SO MUCH and miss you TONS! The mission is
hard but so so good. I know God lives and that He loves each and every one of
us! ❤
Email you soon,
Sister Mary Goss
